WHEN TO GO
Summer would seem like the most obvious time to go to a location like the Lake District, in pursuit of outdoor adventures in fine weather. However, a Windermere resident told us that it’s also particularly beautiful on a bright day in winter, because the air is clearer and there’s better visibility from the peaks, because of the lack of haze.
WAY TO GO
If you’re travelling from the south, you’ll need to take the M6 or the M1. Unfortunately, both motorways are undergoing ‘improvements’ as they’re transformed into ‘smart’ motorways, so take your pick!
FOOD AND DRINK
There are loads of wonderful eateries in the Lakes. The Skiddaw Hotel in the centre of Keswick has sumptuous furnishings and offers meals, snacks and drinks in the bar or conservatory.
There’s also a vegetarian and vegan café, Kat’s Kitchen, offering a very tempting menu, located at 135 Main Street in Keswick.
