THE PANDEMIC HAS delayed many manufacturers’ launches for the 2021 season, and they won’t be revealed until later in the year. But a handful have begun to announce their plans, so we’re taking our first look at some of the latest caravans.

ADRIA

Adria is focusing its efforts for 2021 on the Adora (A), the mid-market range that accounts for 65% of the caravans the firm sells in the UK. Last year, this amounted to over 1220 vehicles.

For the new season, the Slovenian manufacturer sought inspiration from a designer of microlight aircraft, to come up with a completely new exterior for the Adora, which includes wind diffusers running up both sides of the front panel – these are meant to aid towing.

Adoras also now come with Al-ko’s ATC trailer stability system as an option, as well as an AKS stabiliser.

Other improvements on the front panel include notches at the bottom to guide you to the corner steadies. There’s an awning rail down both sides of

Athe caravan, too, to help those who like to fit front covers.

The rear panel has also been improved. With a more curvaceous top, the new-look Adora’s rear comes with a third multifunctional LED light.

Inside, the new-look front lounge now includes what Adria claims is the largest panoramic sunroof offered as standard on any caravan sold in the UK.

Settees in the lounge come with clever detachable roll-up headrests, and there’s a new sound system with hidden speakers and a Bluetooth amplifier fitted as standard, which should enhance the quality audio experience.

To differentiate living and cooking space without the need for bulkheads, the doors to the concave overhead lockers in the lounge have a wooden finish, while those for the kitchen are gloss-white.

All fixed beds have Evopore mattresses, and there’s a choice of two upholstery finishes, Misty Rose or Stone Island.

Finally, Adria has installed a rail that runs around the inside walls of the whole van, including

BCthe kitchen. Onto this you can hang a selection of optional trays and baskets, to customise your storage space.

The Adora continues with three of the same layouts – the four-berth Isonzo (B) and Seine, and the five-berth, twinaxle Sava. The end-washroom, rear-corner-bed Thames has been dropped.

A new model – the Tiber – with an in-line island bed similar to that of the Altea Dart, will be introduced later this year. There have also been minor changes to individual models. The transverse island bed in the Isonzo can now be rolled back to create more of a gangway at the bottom, while the locker beneath has a larger external access door.

The Sava gets a pull-down bunk above the rear dinette that can be tucked inside the overhead lockers to store.

With so much focus on the Adora, the Alpina and Altea ranges retain the same layouts and have only been updated with new graphics this year, although the Alteas do get an optional dark-blue Flavie upholstery.

Lower external panelling on the single-model Action range, meanwhile, will be graphite rather than blue.

Finally, Adria’s smart control Mach app will be available as an option on all Adoras and Alpinas this season. From this year, it includes a user manual specific to your chosen model, which you can download by scanning a QR code inside the caravan.

COACHMAN

The only Uk-based firm to have launched its 2021 season, Coachman is expanding its ranges with new models in the upmarket Laser and more entry-level Acadia (C) line-ups.

HIInteriors feature Matara Teak furniture, offset with high-gloss white, and upholstery in white, black and grey.

On the outside of the caravan, you get 17-inch alloy wheels and a 60cm-wide entrance door.

Five models are included in the new-season range: the 580UF with rear corner bed, the 590UE (F) with rear single beds, the 590UK with rear corner bed and bunks, the 650UDF (G) with rear corner bed and a second side dinette, and the 750UFK with a corner bed and a children’s dinette with bunks and a second lounge located behind it.

Prices range from £31,210 to £32,699 OTR.

Knaus is also celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2021, and to mark this occasion, it will be bringing out special editions in three of its caravan and motorhome ranges, including the Südwind.

These will include a spec similar to what was already available on the Südwind in the UK, but the Südwind 60 Years Knaus range will come with special upholstery and a sticker on the side wall.

A new layout, the 500 UE, is also being added to the range.

This neat four-berth features single beds in the front and a rear lounge. Prices range from £27,640 to £28,999.

Weinsberg

The main news for Knaus’s budget brand Weinsberg in the 2021 season is the launch of the Caracito, a caravan that can run entirely on electricity.

Available in the UK only in one layout, the 390QD (H), with a transverse bed across the front and a rear corner dinette that makes up into another double bed, the Caracito comes with a 230V glass ceramic hob, 60-litre compressor fridge, and a combined heating and air-conditioning system.

With an OTR price of £14,999, this caravan is very much aimed at the younger market, with a chic interior that includes handle-free overhead locker doors, light-wood furniture and brown, blue or grey upholstery.

Outside, white metal side, front and rear panels contrast with anthracite skirting (I).
