The Barnetts, catering for different ages

Ben and Samantha, in their late 40s, had daughter Emily not long after they married in their early 30s. But they had to wait a while before twins Gabriel and Matty arrived, five years ago. Still, they have been touring for a long time, so they should be experienced at towing. If so, the Ancona is ideal. Its roomy lounge turns into a large double bed, then beyond the spacious kitchen is a rear bedroom.

This area can be divided up at night – the twins curtained off in the bunks and the young adult with her own space.

This model is even closer to the Barnetts’ 85% towing limit, but it’s longer, so more spacious, and quite a bit cheaper, too.

This time you get a central washroom, which divides the children’s area off a bit more. Such a layout also means that everyone can reach the toilet at night more easily, without disturbing anyone else.

As this is a six-berth, the rear bedroom has two permanent bunks and a table that converts into two more bunks. So Emily could possibly bring a friend

along for moral support.

3 2016 Bailey Pegasus Ancona

What a difference a couple of years makes. If the Barnetts opt for this slightly older Ancona, they’ll find it falls well within the 85% towing limit, to give them peace of mind.

The layout is the same, although the soft furnishings are different: this older model has floral curtains, while the newer one goes for chevrons.

Unlike the 2018 van, this one doesn’t have a motor mover. But it is priced at £2500 less, which should more than cover the cost of getting a mover if they really feel they want to.
