Price £92,980 Kerbweight 2735kg 85% match 2325kg Towing limit 3000kg

What could be more British than a Range Rover?

The Sport model is sharper to drive than the regular Range Rover, and promises to combine performance and economy if you opt for the P460e Plug-in Hybrid. The 460 in the name tells you how many horsepower the car has – more than enough to tow your twin-axle.

The three-tonne towing limit is lower than a diesel Range Rover’s, but still so high that the difference is academic.

Plug-in hybrids tend to be heavy, and that’s certainly the case here – this Range Rover Sport has a kerbweight of 2735kg, which promises excellent stability at speed.

A big chunk of that weight comes from the battery, which has enough capacity for the Sport to be driven on electricity alone for almost 75 miles, according to the official tests.

Running costs

Regular recharging will keep down emissions and running costs, although if you can afford one of these you’re probably not counting the pennies.

That said, you could easily spend more if you’re tempted by the long list of options.

The latest P460e hasn’t been around too long, so the earlier P440e is easier to find on the used market. We’ve seen this version priced from £76,500.
