Spring travel trends
Travel company Airbnb has been examining its data to make some predictions about which destinations could be the most popular for spring holidaymakers this year.
Analysing its listing of top trending destinations, the team concluded rural beauty spots would be popular over Easter, with some smaller cities also featuring strongly.
In addition, the website has seen a 35% rise in people searching for UK family holiday spots, particularly for stays on farms and in National Parks.
Among the getaways being most often searched for were:
PENRITH
This historic market town lies in the Eden Valley District of Cumbria and is just six miles north of Ullswater.
Home to a wide range of charming shops, restaurants and local attractions, Penrith has an independent spirit and a welcoming community.
The town is a hive of activity, with lots to see and do, and makes the perfect base for exploring the serene beauty of the Lake District.

CANTERBURY
Once a sacred destination for pilgrims, the beautiful city of Canterbury is infused with the history and culture of its Roman and medieval past.

For those visitors keen to explore a little further afield, London is just a 90-minute train ride away, while Kent Downs and the coastal gem of Whitstable are also within easy reach.
