Music, circus skills and Morris dancing are just some of the many things to be enjoyed at this traditiona­l Shropshire fair, taking place in the grounds of Clun Castle over the May Day bank holiday weekend. 17-19 May 2024 Fawley Hill Vintage Transport Festival

Fawley Hill Railway, not far from Henley-on-thames, is the venue for this splendid vintage transport festival, where you can travel in a locomotive from a Victorian station with the steepest standard-gauge track in the world. At the museum, you can see Spitfires, motorcycle­s and much more. There will be live music and entertainm­ent from noon until late. Tickets from £15 (under-12s free).

17-19 May 2024 Keswick Mountain Festival

This popular Lake District event is packed with activities, including guided walks, yoga and running. Get your glad rags on for this step into the past at Stockton, in Wiltshire, where visitors are encouraged to dress in period attire for the whole weekend.
