Citroën radiates

-

1971 Citroën D Spécial Engine 2175cc/4-cyl/ohc Power 115bhp@5750rpm With my D Special now rescued and residing at the Bourne Citroën Centre, I now have a long task list! The corrosion-free hydraulic pipes and lack of body rot were reasons to be relieved but after 35 years off the road, many perishable parts need replacement. Citroen nut Darrin from independent DS parts supplier Citroën Classics sent suspension spheres, coolant hoses and a fuel pump, followed by a complete exhaust and a water pump. For the radiator, I turned to friends of PC – Boston Motorcool. Proprietor Richard set about re-coring and painting it to perfection.

With the wings and doors removed and with advice from Roger at Frost Auto, the now naked Citroën will be getting a very thorough fresh dose of Dinitrol before being fully clothed in freshly painted panels. An MOT, remarkably, is just around the corner. Will it be ready for the PC Restoration Show? Stay tuned…
