Once you’ve had a good Jaguar, you wont go back to a Mercedes. The Interior is so ‘Taxi spec’, and none of them will out handle an XJ. And lets face facts – Mercedes reliability is all about pre-1992 cars, as the new ones are terribly fragile. Ben Wilson

The W126 is by far the better car than any car that Jaguar produced before, during and since. Probably better than anything Mercedes-benz produced before, during and since. Al Abbasi

The interiors on the XJ of the time were really tacky and aged badly because of the quality. And the switchgear was horrid. The ride and handling was great though. Ian Luscombe
