THE MGC/B V8 MARKET

-

Nigel Guild says: ‘V8s are very hard to find and so are good Cs; most of the cars available need work. All V8s got overdrive but only some Cs; avoid cars without it.

‘The C was also available as an automatic but the market for these is limited. Some owners care about having matching numbers, but it’s not an issue for most buyers. Usable C GTS fetch £12,500-£15,000 while equivalent roadsters are £16,000-£20,000 – a decent GT V8 is worth £16,000-£18,000.

‘Really nice C GTS are £18,000-£22,000, roadsters are £25,000-£28,000 and GT V8s are £20,000+.

‘However, these values are for genuine chromebumper GT V8s which are worth at least £4000 more than an equivalent rubberbumper car.’
