ROLLING ROAD TUNING
Scientific approach 1
Our trial-and-error approach left our GT6 with a smoother tickover, sharper performance and a snappier throttle response. Crucially, there was no pinking when the throttle was buried in the carpet at 1500-2000rpm. To test our method, we took it to Aldon’s rolling road for a more scientific approach. The first power run showed a maximum of 60.5bhp at the wheels. Aldon’s rolling road tuning expert, Roger, reckoned he could add a little more advance
mid- and high-rpm to get a further improvement. at
The final result 2
Roger produced the best possible ignition map after a few runs. The final power output had increased by 2%. This proves it’s possible to get a near-perfect map at home using the figures in your manual and a little experimentation.
