THE VOLVO 140-260 MARKET

-

The Volvo Enthusiasts’ Club’s Kevin Price says: ‘Everyone wants estates, but there aren’t many good ones left. The 260s are rare but unloved as they’re thirsty and unreliable. The cheapest model is the 244 DL; good ones start at just £500. The 262 and 264TE are the most valuable with excellent examples worth at least £10,000, but you’ll be doing well to find one. The most sought after 140 is a 144 S, which is worth up to £8000 if fitted with overdrive. Of the 240s the 245 GLT is the holy grail, but they’re rare in good condition – you’re more likely to find a Torslanda. This was a high-spec 2.0-litre edition introduced in April 1992. Buy a nice 245 and you’ll pay just £1000.’
