ALAN’S CLASSIC CAR CV
Alan has a string of restorations under his belt and readily admits that in retirement, he would much rather be in the garage restoring and fettling, than indoors watching TV. Daimler 2.5 V8 1984-2002 The Daimler was in quite a state when purchased but Alan ran it on the road until 1993 when he started a full restoration. Body repairs were complex and working only at weekends, the project took eight years. The Edward Turner designed V8 was rebuilt using Triumph bike pistons. MGB GT 2005-2011
This became another complete restoration. Though Alan finds restoration the most enjoyable part of classic ownership, this is a car he wished he’ kept. Hillman Super Minx 2011-present The MG made way for this Hillman saloon project car. Now immaculately restored, Alan and his wife use the Super Minx regularly to visit car shows and also for trips out with their grandchildren. He says that this car is a definite keeper.
