The consultation on a potential ‘Vnuk’ directive that might end up requiring all motorised vehicles to be subject to insurance whether operational, roadgoing or not, continues. The intention of the Federation of British Historic vehicle clubs would be to propose solutions that are favourable to classic owners.
REGISTRATION ONLY REQUIRED
DVLA has decided that the Vehicle Enquiry Service (VES) will require entry of only the registration to enable a search. This means the issue of erroneous Makes in the DVLA database becomes irrelevant.
DFT CONSULTATIONS ONGOING
The DFT has encountered difficulty in finalising its recommendations to ministers following its consultation on roadworthiness testing. It appears that it intends to proceed with a right to exemption from MOT testing for Vehicles of Historic Interest over 40 years old that have not been ‘substantially modified’.
