1960 Morris Minor Convertible Engine 998cc/4cyl/ohv Top speed Plenty Gearbox 4-speed manual Work done Rear wings painted and hung; lighting planned.

It’s been another month of slow progress. Bodywork has sapped time once again but I’ve finally got the rear wings in colour and hung on the car, complete with contrasting navy blue piping. Once the car is complete with a navy hood and pinstripe, I’m hoping this will be the element that allows the car to really stand out. Up front, I’ve been thinking about lighting. I want to keep the trafficators, but also want to use the car without worrying about people not seeing me indicate. I’d therefore like flashing indicators but don’t want to simply bolt a nasty orange boil onto each corner. Luckily Better Car Lighting has the answer with a set of clever LED bulbs. For the front, I have bought a later type twin filament sidelight unit and carefully trimmed the outer lip from the rubber. With the original sidelight lens in place, they look original, but can now hold the clever new bulbs. A warm white LED produces the sidelight, then a ring of bright orange LEDS flash to turn the sidelight into an indicator when required. For the rear, there’s a similarly clever setup that I will discuss when I get there. More soon.
