Guy Loveridge problem solves in Italy

-

When you commit to an event like the Mille Miglia, there seems to be little to do bar turn up and do the job… but the trip still proved the value of knowing your spanners.

Picture the scene… day two and the run to Rome. The heat was overwhelming and we were using five litres of water every 40 miles. The fault? The rod running from the back of the dynamo to the water pump was detached and leaking. Game Over? For a few moments it looked like it was. Then, using a cable tie, we pulled the drive and pump back into contact. The Nash fired up, the pump drive span and it held! We poured more water in and struck

off into Rome. Come Sunday, the water loss was negligible.

Proof that classic problem solving can be exactly the same, whatever the car!
