A fifth gear is a fantastic upgrade that will make your classic even more usable in modern traffic conditions (see page 63). These impressive Evolution gearboxes from Minispares have a final drive of between 3.037:1 and 3.2 :1. The fifth cog is essentially an overdrive gear in these units, which can be easily fitted while still maintaining a standard look. In addition to the purchase price, you’ll pay a £250 surcharge that will be refunded to you when you return your old gearbox to Mini Spares for rebuild.
