Sam missed out on a great museum
It was interesting to read Sam Glover’s article on his visit to Zaporizhia, Ukraine. I went there myself for the first time a couple of weekends ago.
My visit coincided with the Day of the Metallurgist holiday, a hangover from Soviet times when it was a great excuse for a good drink for anyone remotely who was connected with the iron and steel industry.
The Zaporizhia factory still operates. However, Sam unfortunately missed out on one of the best secrets of Zaporizhia – it is the site of the only private automobile museum in Ukraine. Known as F/phaeton, it has five exhibition halls and 150 exhibits devoted to various classics, including one dedicated to military vehicles. The workforce based there also works on custom restorations.
