I THINK YOU’LL FIND…

A couple of comments on the superb picture of The Mall in 1960 in the September issue. The vehicle behind the Consul MKII is not a Morris Ten, but its arch rival, the Austin Ten Cambridge saloon. Look at the upright profile, shape of the wings and doors hung on the centre pillar. And the car captioned as an Alvis 12/70 is a Riley of 1937-38 vintage. Marion New (Your Cars, September 2017) may be interested to know that her Sunbeam Vogue was so branded following the demise of the Singer marque in 1970. That was indeed for just a very brief period, as you said, until all Arrow four-door saloon models in the UK became Hillman Hunters with various codes denoting their places in the range.
