Tasty filling
1972 Triumph GT6 Engine 1998cc/6-cyl/ohv Power 98bhp@5300rpm Fuel economy 27mpg The GT6 body repairs are now complete and the car is covered in a smooth coat of spray filler, ready for flatting and priming. It’s been a long haul, as we found far more rot than was ever expected, but the standard of the work done by Jamie at Complete Car Care is first class. A ‘wanted’ ad in the Triumph Sports Six Club’s Courier magazine produced a call from TSSC member Brian Cox, offering a tailgate in near new condition. I bought it and took the new frame into Complete Car Care, where Jamie pronounced it sound.
The car’s original colour was Triumph Pimento, though several different shades are available from paint specialists. I’ve chosen a version that’s not too orange, and to reduce the risk of fade in future, we’re using a ‘clear over basecoat’ finish, with the final lacquer coat protecting the paint colour.
It should be merely a matter of days before my little GT6 is red again – the excitement is building!
