1 Moretonham­pstead Motor Museum

More than 120 vehicles are housed in this hidden gem in the heart of Devon – a hot spot for classic car owners keen to enjoy some of England’s finest country roads. The museum is a refurbishe­d bus depot full of motoring artefacts and with some genuinely breathtaki­ng and classic cars.

2 Haynes Motor Museum

Once a mere shed, the museum is now an enormous state of the art facility housing 400 incredible vehicles of all shapes and sizes. Exhibits include a replica of the first ‘proper’ car – an 1886 Benz – to astonishin­g examples of the most iconic British cars from Mini to E-type.

3 The Kelpies

These two breathtaki­ng 30 metre high horsehead sculptures in Scotland and are in contrast to the motoring theme of our venture – a monument to horse power in Scotland. Opened in 2013, they have been stunning onlookers ever since then.

4 Brooklands Museum

The birthplace of British Motorsport and aviation is nestled in Surrey, not far from the M25 and is a must for all enthusiast­s of classic cars. Parts of the banked circuit still exist, while the museum itself is home to numerous racing cars as well as the first pre-production Concorde. The original finishing-straight has recently been restored.

5 Bicester Heritage

Billed as the UK’S only hub for historic motoring excellence, the facility claims to be the national centre for the restoratio­n industry. The site is home to more than 30 businesses, all of which provide essential services to classic car enthusiast­s at the old RAF station.

6 The National Motor Museum, Beaulieu

In 1952 it consisted of just five cars. Since then it has grown to house the nation’s most important vehicles – around 250 in all. From Mr Bean’s Mini to Donald Campbell’s Bluebird, There are other attraction­s including the House and Abbey.

7 Llanberis Pass

A steep sided valley in the shadow of Mt Snowdon, the Llanberis Pass offers huge thrills to the driver of any classic car – be it a Morris Minor or a Jaguar E-type. The views, the corners and the cafe at the top make for a memorable day out.

8 The British Motor Museum

With 300 vehicles, this purpose built facility in Warwickshi­re is stunning. The museum houses the very first Land Rover, the first and last Minis and numerous other ‘first and lasts’ besides.

9 Bamburgh Castle

Perched on a rocky outcrop, this spectacula­r castle has been drawing both foreign invaders and more friendly visitors for centuries. Located on the north east coast it’s perfectly placed for those seeking a wild and windswept day out and forms a great backdrop to classic car meets.

10 Lakeland Motor Museum

Classic car drivers who enjoy a day out in the mountain passes of Cumbria can’t afford to miss the Museum, which is home to a vast collection of vehicles and memorabili­a. In addition to the machinery, it also has an exhibition dedicated to Sir Malcolm Campbell and son Donald.
