Work done
More fixed than before. Filming the latest bunch of Skill Shack videos at Britpart with Fuzz Townshend was great fun. While I was there Britpart’s workshop guru Steve had a look at the Discovery and suggested we should include it in some of the filming (it was THAT tonked!). There were a few issues that needed sorting and it would be a decent guinea pig. Fuzz had a look and told me even
Car SOS wouldn’t touch it with a bargepole. The list of jobs for the year ahead now included some that would be done right away. So we replaced the swivel housing and wheel bearings on the nearside front and the Britpart MD Paul Myers and I checked the engine (he wanted to get out of the office). A pressure test revealed a sound head. I completed oil and coolant changes… very important to keep these regular on the
3.9 V8i. As Land Rover Owner Magazine’s
Martin Domoney replaced the serpentine auxiliary belt I went and bought a set of gearbox fluid coolant pipes and a new cooler, mine were on the edge of doom. While I was away Steve almost gave himself a hernia replacing the rear-axle-securing A-frame, as my nuts were particularly tight.
The filming went well… you can see it at
skillshack.co.uk in the summer. You will also be able to meet my Disco in the Practical
Classics Parade area next to the main stage at the Practical
Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show. Next, it was time to renew the headlights and start chasing down the leaky roof. Never a dull moment.
