Here’s how Gerry did it
AUG 2014 Rotten on arrival
The stripped down body is unbolted, placed on homebuilt trestles, and the chassis rolled out.
DEC 2014 Rolling project
The chassis rust is now repaired and new outriggers have been made. New Kelsey Hayes wire wheels and whitewalls.
APR 2015 A little Italian inspiration
The bodywork rust repairs are completed and the bodyshell is generously coated in ten layers of Ferrari Rosso Corsa Red.
JUL 2015 Wing and a prayer
The painted rear wings are polished in Gerry’s homemade spray booth. Each of wings’ mounting tabs got a hand-made rubber mounting block.
FEB 2016 Skip trip
The missing back seat was a concern until Howard found a garden bench in a skip. It got cut to size, welded and once upholstered no-one would guess.
JUN 2016 De-sign
innovation
The curved pieces at the sides of the rear seat were missing so Gerry curved an old road sign into the correct shapes, relying solely on photographs of a similar car.
JAN 2017 Chromed… wood?
Unable to find grille ‘eyebrows’, Gerry made his own by shaping pieces of MDF which he had cast in bronze and chromed.
