NIGEL’S JOB CARD FITTING AND TIMING THE CAM

Last month, we ensured the bottom end of our Triumph Spitfire engine would be oil-tight. Now, we’re ready to fit the camshaft, set the all-important cam timing while fitting the timing chain and sprockets, then fit the timing cover with its chain tensioner, oil seal and gasket. We’ve chosen to upgrade our 1147cc Spitfire engine with a camshaft from a 1296cc MKIII.
