WHAT I BOUGHT THIS MONTH… 2002 BMW X5 3.0 D

The team was alerted to the plight of this X5 on our Facebook page in a message from reader John Jones. His 87-year-old dad gave up driving a while back, so his cherished X5 had been sat around for a few years, gathering moss. I have a fondness for BMWS of this era and, love it or loathe it, the X5 was something of a gamechanger at launch in ’99. This one is a very straight 3-litre diesel with a manual ’box and it all seems to mostly work. I am hoping an MOT will be achievable without too much trauma.
