This summer might just be a great one after all
Fill up your calendar as more events are confirmed for 2021.
As this issue was being put together things were starting to look more hopeful than they’ve done for a long time, in terms of getting back to normal. Quite a few summer events were cancelled or postponed earlier this year and we won’t see them until 2022, but other fixtures are being firmed up. Some are on these pages, but over the coming issues we’ll bring you more; do drop us a line if you’re organising something and it needs a little push. Some of the event organisers that took a particularly big hammering last year are those who put on regular multi-marque days and weekends. These include Mark Woodward Classic Events, which is kicking off the season at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern on Sunday May 23 with the Land Rover & Vintage Spares Day. A week later, on Monday May 31, Mark’s team will be at Ripley Castle in Yorkshire for a huge multi-marque show. Over the ensuing weeks they’ll also be putting on events in Cumbria, Lancashire, Yorkshire,
Worcestershire, Berkshire and Northumberland; find all the details at markwoodward classicevents.com.
Classic Shows also has a busy summer ahead, beginning on Sunday-monday May 30-31 at Capesthorne Hall in Cheshire as well as Thoresby Park in Nottinghamshire and Castle Howard in Yorkshire. Later in the season they’ll be
hosting at Weston Park (near Telford), Bodrhyddan Hall (North Wales) and Hardwick Hall in County Durham; the full itinerary is at classicshows.org.
Classic Motor Events is also planning a packed season, starting at Chetwynd Deer Park in Shropshire on June 20. A week later the fun will be at The Lawn in Essex before moving to Walsall Arboretum on July 11 and Beaumanor Hall in Leicestershire on July 25. There are half a dozen more events after that up to the end of September; classicmotorevents. co.uk has the details. You need to book into most events, so that organisers can control the number of people and collect your contact details for test and trace.
