Singer Owners’ Club
Seventy years on, with a membership that’s still growing
With over 900 members in 23 countries, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable are three important by-words for the Singer Owners’ Club. Whether it is that elusive part, information on a particular model (over 240 are known) or just advice on purchasing a particular car, then the SOC has been here to help for a very long time. Founded in March 1951, the Singer Owners’ Club reached 70 this year with its founder, Keith Mcdowall CBE, still its vice president.
The club has a dedicated team including 20 model registrars and 21 area contacts who, together with 14 other officials, are readily available to answer questions and share their expertise.
The model registrars cover all Singer production – bicycles, motorcycles, vintage, Juniors, Thirties saloons, commercials and sports cars, Roadsters, Gazelles, Vogues and Chamois.
Out and about
Despite COVID-19, the club has a number of ‘Drive Out’ days arranged in various parts of the country along with tours to Jersey and a planned threeday event with the Dutch SOC. A 70th anniversary club stand at the NEC Classic Motor Show in November is also planned.
The club’s award winning 52-page bi-monthly magazine has countless interesting articles on Singers of all ages.
A comprehensive website, flourishing Facebook presence and regular Singerflash emails keep members informed of future events, services availability and cars/parts for sale. The club and its current specialist suppliers can source stock for most models, and it continues to re-manufacture critical parts to keep their treasured automobiles on the road into the future.
