JONATHAN GREGG OF OUT TO SWIM

-

WHO ARE YOU AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER OF OUT TO SWIM?

I’m a Finance Management Consultant and I’ve been a member for a year.

WHY DID YOU JOIN OUT TO SWIM?

When I started swimming with Out To Swim I was a self-proclaimed terrible swimmer, but I wanted to improve and swimming in a club would keep me fit and motivate me to push myself. I also wanted to keep meeting new people; I reckon you can never have enough friends!

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE WITH OUT TO SWIM?

There have already been so many adventures with the club, but of all the events, meals and messy nights out, perhaps the one that will always remain with me was swimming at GLLAM at the Olympic Pool. Aside from all the racing, it was a day to catch up with friends, enjoy the water, celebrate our accomplishments over the last year, and of course, an excuse to go out for drinks afterwards!

WHY SHOULD SOMEONE JOIN OUT TO SWIM?

Coached swimming sessions are a hard workout. They make you fitter, stronger and, of course, more attractive to members of the same sex!

Out To Swim will make you a better swimmer, but besides that, what you are investing in is a sort of oversized friendship circle: we learn and develop together as swimmers, and we bolt on friendship and community with it. It’s a great thing.

The club is probably the most truly diverse group I’ve ever known, and we celebrate that diversity. That means that we are proud to welcome everyone, from every walk of life, whoever they might be. For me, it feels good to be part of something that is so in tune with my own personal values.
