Thrill-seeking fun doesn’t stop at the slopes in the resort of La Plagne in the French Alps, and we’re not just talking après-ski. In addition to the 225km of marked runs available (one of the largest ski areas in the world), there are lots of other activities on offer to get your adrenaline pumping.

Channel Cool Runnings (‘Feel the rhythm. Feel the rhyme. Get on up, it’s bobsled time!’) and experience a real Winter Olympics bobsleigh track using a specially adapted Bob Raft (£40 per person). It drives automatically, taking you through 19 exhilarating turns, travelling at up to 80km an hour. Adventure-seekers will also love flying through the valley on the 600m Super Tyro zip line, gaining a speed of up to 90km an hour (£18 per person). Visit the unspoilt village of Champagny en Vanoise for a day of winter walking or snowshoeing in the national park, and, while you’re there, book in an ice-climbing lesson (£36 per person) with a pro at the artificial Ice Tower.

Finally, if you want to experience the thrill of the slopes without the exertion, book yourself a taxi ski, where you can sit back and relax in a special seat attached to your guide’s skis as they transport you to your destination (£198 per person for a half day).

MAKE YOUR SNOW RESERVATION Stay at the Carlina Hotel right on the slopes for unmissable views, starting at £182 per person per night for half board. Visit carlina-belleplagne.com.
