Giant chocolate cornflake nest
Everyone loves chocolate cornflakes! This fun centrepiece for the Easter table will be a hit with children and adults alike.
MAKES ONE LARGE (TO SERVE 16) OR 24 INDIVIDUAL NESTS PREP 15min, plus chilling COOK about 10min
• 250g (9oz) dark chocolate, chopped
• 200g (7oz) milk chocolate, chopped
• 100g (3½oz) butter, chopped
• 3tbsp golden syrup
• 200g (7oz) cornflakes
• Mini chocolate eggs, to decorate
1 Draw around the base of a 20.5cm (8in) cake tin on a piece of baking parchment. Flip the parchment over and lay on a baking sheet. Next, melt the chocolates, butter and golden syrup together in a large heatproof bowl set over a pan of gently simmering water (make sure the base of the bowl does not touch the water). Alternatively, microwave in a bowl on full power for 15sec bursts until melted.
2 Add the cornflakes to the melted chocolate mixture and stir to coat.
3 Load the coated cornflakes on to the parchment, inside the marked circle, mounding up the sides to make it look like a nest. Chill to set, which should take about 2hr.
4 To serve, fill the nest with chocolate eggs.
