GLOW ON

Make-up played second fiddle to skincare at the spring/summer fashion shows, helping to achieve what MAC make-up artist Lyne Desnoyers called the ‘luminous nude look’. The secret lies in clever textures that instantly rehydrate and plump up your skin, leaving it looking dewy, glowing and ready for a light application of tinted moisturiser over the top. TRY L’occitane Ultra Thirst-quenching Gel, £28, and

Garnier Aloe Water Jelly, £12.99.

EYELINER, YOUR WAY

One of the biggest trends right now is eyeliner, but how you wear it is up to you – flicked, smudged, under, over or all around the eye, and as dramatic or as dainty as you like. For precision flicks, felt-tip-style nibs like Marc Jacobs Magic Marc’er Precision Pen in Blacquer, £23, are easier to operate than a brush, but if you prefer pencil, C.Y.O Kohl Gel Eyeliner, £3.50, glides on without dragging and can be left as a clean sweep of colour or smudged with a cotton brush.

ADD SOME SPARKLE!

Catwalk eyes and lips were embellished with stick-on rhinestones and lines of glitter, but for a real-life, grown-up-appropriate take, go for a subtle hint of shimmer. We like Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow, £23, Collection Glam Crystals Liquid Eyeshadow, £2.99, and Barry M Holographic Lip Toppers, £4.99.

BLUE NOTES

One of the season’s hottest nail colours, blue is also a useful transitional shade from winter’s blacks and berries to summer’s brights. And there’s a blue to suit every skin tone. Navy is a great option for pale skin. TRY Nailberry L’oxygéné Nail Polish in Maliblue,

£14.50. An intense sky blue, like OPI

Nail Polish in No Room For The Blues,

£12.50, is super-flattering against medium and olive skin, while cobalt looks amazing on dark skin – we love Soigné Nail Polish in Kiwi, £11.

NEXT LEVEL LASHES

From tints to extensions, our appetite for new ways to maximise our lashes is never-ending, and could even overtake brow shaping as the technique to master (searches are up by 152%, says Pinterest). The latest way to satisfy your lash lust comes courtesy of magnetic lashes, an updated version of stick-on falsies, in which two very fine fringes are sandwiched over and under your own and held in place with magnets – much easier than it sounds! TRY Lash FX Magnetise Magnetic Eye Lashes, £18.95, and Ardell Professional Magnetic Lashes, £13.99.

BLUSHER’S BACK

This spring, the most face-flattering essential is blusher. To lift and brighten, swirl on to the apples of the cheeks and lightly up and outwards. And for the freshest finish, swap matte shades for gleaming creams or subtly pearlised powders. TRY bareminerals

Gen Nude Powder

Blush, £22.

TOP GLOSS

Highlighters made cheekbones gleam on the catwalk. Help yours catch the light by doctoring your foundation or moisturiser with ‘glow drops’ – pipette dispensed highlighters and bronzers that allow you to add shimmer to your look. TRY Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Custom Glow Drops, £26.
