Simple ways to make your eyes look younger

PRIME TIME

According to make-up artist

Trish Mcevoy, evening out discolouration on your eyelids is just as important as disguising under-eye circles. A pigmented primer buffed into eyelids with a small, fluffy brush not only gives eyeshadow extra hold and prevents it from creasing, but it will also neutralise any redness or blue tones. We love Laura Mercier Eye Basics, £21 (John Lewis) and Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, £17.

TRY A QUICK TRICK

Press a gel eyeliner pencil like Trish Mcevoy Intense Gel Eye Liner, £21, in between the upper lash line to create the effect of thicker, darker lashes without mascara. Dusting mattifying translucent powder on top of concealer helps puffy under eyes look flatter; if hollowness or dryness is your issue, pat Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Balm, £53, under the centre of the eye to make the area look plumper.

ALWAYS USE AN EYE CREAM

As we don’t have any oil-producing glands in the skin around the eye sockets, using eye cream from a young age is important – but it’s never too late to start! The eye creams to go for? Ones that smooth and hydrate skin, like Olay Eyes Pro-retinol Eye Treatment, £29.99, and It Cosmetics Confidence In An Eye Cream, £30.

ADD A STEP

Give the skin around your eyes a hydration boost by patting on a hyaluronic acid-based serum after cleansing while skin is still damp. It takes all of two seconds but adds a layer of skin-plumping moisture. Try The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, £5.90 (victoriahealth. com), or La Roche-posay Hyalu B5 Serum, £37.
