MEASUREMEN­TS

To fit bust 81-86(92-97:102-107)cm. Finished measuremen­ts Bust 92(102:113)cm; Length to shoulder 53(54.5:56)cm; Sleeve length (including edging) 12cm for all sizes.

MATERIALS

4(4:5) 100g balls of King Cole Cottonsoft DK in 782 Silver.

Pair each of 3.25mm and 3.75mm knitting needles.

TENSION

23 sts and 31 rows to 10cm square over patt using 3.75mm needles.

NOTE

When casting off groups of sts for the neck, upper sleeve and shoulder shaping, slip the 1st st of each group – this will produce a smoother edge.

BACK AND FRONT (BOTH ALIKE)

** With 3.75mm needles, cast on 107(119:131) sts. 1st row (RS) K1, [p1, k1] to end. 2nd row P to end. Rep these 2 rows 4 times more. Now work in patt as follows: 1st and 3rd

rows (RS) K3, [p1, k3] to end.

2nd and every foll WS rows

P to end. 5th row K1, [p1, k1] to end. 7th and 9th rows

K1, [p1, k3] to last 2 sts, p1, k1. 11th row K1, [p1, k1] to end. 12th row P to end. These 12 rows form the patt and are repeated throughout. Cont in patt until work measures 34(35:36)cm from cast on edge, ending with a p row.

Shape for sleeves

Cast on and take into patt 8 sts at beg of next 6 rows. 155(167:179) sts. Cont in patt until sleeve measures 15(15.5:16)cm from last cast on row, ending with a p row.

Shape upper sleeves, shoulders and neck

Next row Cast off 6(8:10) sts, patt until there are 57(61:65) sts on right hand needle, turn and cont on these sts only, leave rem sts on a spare needle. Next

row (WS) Cast off 4 sts, p to end. Next

row Cast off 6 sts, patt to end. Rep the last 2 rows twice more. 27(31:35) sts.

Next row Cast off 3 sts, p to end. Next

row Cast off 6 sts, patt to end. P 1 row. Rep the last 2 rows once more. Cast off rem 12(16:20) sts for shoulder. With RS facing, slip 29 sts at centre on to a holder, rejoin yarn to rem sts, cast off 4 sts, patt to end. 59(65:71) sts. Next row (WS) Cast off 6(8:10) sts, p to end. Next row Cast off 4 sts, patt to end. Next row Cast off 6 sts, p to end. Next row Cast off 4 sts, patt to end. Next row Cast off 6 sts, p to end. Next row

Cast off 3 sts, patt to end. Next

row Cast off 6 sts, p to end. Patt 1 row. Rep the last 2 rows once more. Next

row Cast off 6 sts, p to end. Cast off rem 12(16:20) sts for shoulder.

NECK EDGING

Join the back to the front along the right upper sleeve and shoulder edge. With 3.25mm needles, pick up and k19 sts down left front neck edge, k across 29 sts at centre front, pick up and k20 sts up right front neck and 19 sts down right back neck, k across 29 sts at centre back, then pick up and k21 sts up left back neck edge. 137 sts. 1st row

(WS) P1, [k1, p1] to end. 2nd row K to end. Rep these 2 rows once more. Cast off knitwise on wrong side.

SLEEVE EDGINGS

Join left neck edging, upper sleeve and shoulder seam. With RS facing and 3.75mm needles, pick up and k59(61:63) sts evenly along sleeve row-end edge. 1st

row (WS) P1, [k1, p1] to end. 2nd row K to end. Rep these 2 rows once more. Cast off in patt.

TO MAKE UP

Working through the centre of the row-end sts, join the side seams, then graft together underarm and sleeve edging seams.
