Staying in with… JOE WICKS

We ask a celeb how they enjoy a night in at home…

-

Joe Wicks, aka The Body Coach, lives in London with his wife, Rosie, and their children, Indie, two, and baby Marley.

My ideal night in begins with… Getting the kids to bed after a long walk in Richmond Park. Then, it’s time to get the barbecue going.

I’ll invite along (once lockdown is over)… The whole family: my mum and dad, my in-laws, my brothers, Nikki and George, and my nephews, Oscar and Milo.

I’ll be eating… Some vegetable and prawn skewers, a load of burgers and a vegetable rice salad on the side.

And drinking… I’ll have a gin and tonic in hand, some San Pellegrino fruit drinks (the orange and lemon ones are the best) and a nice bit of Pimm’s and lemonade.

My best-ever dinner party was… For my birthday one year, we invited an amazing chef called Nisha

– a former Masterchef semi-finalist – over to our house and she cooked an Indian-inspired meal for 10 of us. Every course had a cocktail paired with it and it was an incredible experience.

My worst dinner party disaster was… I was once making risotto and I completely forgot about putting the water in. The whole thing ended up charred and we resorted to ordering in sushi! Top of my party playlist is… You’re Welcome sung by Dwayne Johnson from the Moana soundtrack. It’s the theme tune to our house because it’s so uplifting, and Indie has now worked out how to ask Alexa to play it!

My current box set of choice is…

The Last Dance on Netflix. It’s a docuseries about Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. It’s brilliant.

The book by my bed is…

Andre Agassi’s autobiography, Open. I’m really enjoying it.

The night will end with…

Popcorn and ice cream

– you just can’t beat them!

I’ll hit the hay at… Rosie and I love an early night and try to be in bed by 9pm, but it usually ends up being more like 11pm!
