TASSEL KEYRING

-

YOU WILL NEED

✽ One piece of pleather,

20 x 10cm ✽ Ruler ✽ Chalk pencil or dressmaker's marker pen

✽ Scissors ✽ 40cm length of 3mm-wide satin ribbon ✽ Strong craft glue ✽ Round, 5mm shoe lace

✽ Clasp keyring

TO MAKE

❶ Place the piece of pleather on a flat surface, with the wrong side facing up and the long edges at the top and bottom. Measure and draw a horizontal line 2.5cm down from the top edge.

❷ Using a chalk pencil or marker pen, draw vertical lines, 5mm apart, from your drawn line to the lower edge.

❸ Cut along the drawn vertical lines as far as the horizontal line.

❹ Turn the piece of pleather over, so the right side is facing up. Cut the length of ribbon in half so that you have two 20cm lengths. Apply glue to the reverse side of one length of ribbon and place along the top edge of the pleather.

❺ Repeat with the other length of ribbon, placing it 2.5cm down from the top edge, where the fringing starts. Allow the glue to dry.

❻ Turn the pleather over, wrong side facing up. Cut a 10cm length of shoelace, loop it through the clasp keyring, then glue the ends side by side 2cm in from the top right edge and 2cm down from the top edge.

➐ Apply glue each side of the cord and across the unfringed section as far down as the tassels. Carefully roll the pleather from the right hand side, enclosing the cord and keeping the top edges level. Continue rolling, applying more glue if necessary, until the pleather is completely rolled up. Allow to dry.
