We ask the Changing Rooms star how he enjoys a night in at home…

- LAURENCE LLEWELYNBOWEN

Laurence lives in the Cotswolds with his wife, Jackie, and their two grown-up children.

My ideal night in begins with… A hefty gin and tonic. We have the entire family living with us – both daughters, their husbands and our grandson, and we’ve got a granddaughter on the way in October – and during lockdown, we instituted something called ‘drinky-poos’.

The cry goes out at about 5.30pm and we all get together for a drink, which is lovely.

I’ll invite along...

You could throw any celebrity my way, or anyone interesting from history, but top of my list would always be Mrs Llewelyn-bowen.

I’ll be eating… We’ll get the silver and crystal out, fold napkins into swans and really give it a sense of grand luxe, then have a sweaty doner kebab straight from the wrapper.

You can’t beat it.

Top of my party playlist... The Daniel Pemberton film score for Ocean’s 8 – it’s evocative, funky and super-glamorous.

My best-ever dinner party was… When Jackie and I first got together in the 1980s, we’d have the most extraordinary dinner parties at our old flat in Streatham. Jackie would cook something wonderful, I’d do a big table, and they’d go on all night. We’d then drag ourselves to work at dawn… those were the days!

My worst dinner party disaster was... There’s always something that doesn’t go quite right, but the secret is to not let the guests in on the disaster you’ve avoided!

My best hangover cure is... A beer or a plate of moules-frites. If you manage to stomach the latter, you’re doing well.
