SPECIAL FEATURE MY FAIR LADYTO RETURN TO THE WEST END STAGE

-

For a strictly limited season this summer will see the first major West End revival of the classic musical My Fair Lady in 21 years. Continuing its popular tradition of hosting annual musicals, the London Coliseum is set to welcome the Lincoln Center Theater production of the Lerner and Loewe classic for a limited engagement.

The multi-award-winning revival is directed by Bartlett Sher and stars stage legend Dame Vanessa Redgrave who will play Mrs Higgins. Redgrave is returning to the West End stage for the first time since her appearance in The Inheritance in 2018. Joining her is Amara Okereke who will star in the lead role as Eliza Doolittle. Harry Hadden-paton will reprise his performance as Henry Higgins. Hadden-paton is perhaps best known for his roles as Martin Charteris in The Crown (Netflix).

The score, which features such standards as “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “Get Me to the Church on Time,” and “On the Street Where You Live”, will be performed by the English National Opera orchestra.

Adapted from George Bernard Shaw’s play and Gabriel Pascal’s motion picture Pygmalion, My Fair Lady follows Eliza Doolittle and her chance encounter with Henry Higgins, a linguistics professor who has taken a wager to transform the young Cockney flower seller into his idea of a “proper lady” but experiences his own transformation in the process.
