Wabtec HST arrivals and departures

-

THERE has been a flurry of activity of HST movements into and out of Wabtec, Doncaster, in recent weeks.

Departing for Haymarket on May 30 was a rebuilt HST for ScotRail, set

HA23 (made up of Nos. 40623, 42268/269/567) went north with power car Nos. 43032/149. Of note is that TGFB (Trailer Guard First Buffet)

No. 40623, rebuilt from TF No. 41180, originally started life as TRUK (Trailer Restaurant Unclassified Kitchen)

No. 40505. Another rake – the 18th to emerge for ScotRail – was released on June 22 as set HA07 formed of

Nos. 40607 (ex-41136), 42207/ 288/574. Power car Nos. 43176/183 were used for the move.

June 5 saw Nos. 42213/351/ 568/575/581 arrive from Ely Papworth, their move to Doncaster being carried out by No. 47815 Lost Boys 68-88. None of these coaches are earmarked for ScotRail refurbishment, so will most likely be used for spares recovery.

An additional set for GWR ‘Castle’ conversion, LA72 (made up of Nos. 42005/015/016 and 44005) arrived for upgrade work on June 16. They were brought north as the 5E23/10.06 St Philip’s Marsh-Wabtec Doncaster by power car Nos. 43009/10. The set had been the last ‘slam door’ HST in use with GWR, being retired from service on December 31, 2019 when its dispensation to operate expired.

ETL DVT MOVE:

June 15 saw Mk.3b DVT No. 82107, which has been acquired by Electric Traction Ltd, collected from the Mid-Norfolk Railway by No. 37611 and taken to Leicester. The working is seen at Easenhall, north of Rugby on the Trent Valley line.
