Inverness design team appointed
Mott Macdonald is to produce detailed designs for a £6 million redevelopment of Inverness station. Tenders for construction are due to be invited in the autumn, with completion in 2018.
Among the aspirations for the station are a new ‘more dominant’ frontage, extra retail space, improved facilities on Academy Street, and upgraded links to Falcon Square and the bus station.
Some £1.9m of funding from the Scottish Stations Fund is being provided, while an application for increased funding will be made to the Inverness Townscape Heritage Fund later this year.
