The ASLEF deal

The agreement states: “Both GTR and ASLEF recognise that there will be some occasions when, for the benefit of passengers, the overall service and employees, services covered by this arrangement may run without an OBS. This will only happen when all other options have been fully exhausted.”

Agreed reasons to run without an OBS: ■ Late notice OBS sickness / absence / emergency leave. ■ OBS delayed. ■ OBS displaced by late running or service disruption. ■ OBS unable to continue duty - for example, having to assist with an incident or emergency. ■ Driver or OBS error - for example, the OBS is left behind.
