Airport-rail tickets are now easier than ever to purchase

-

Four airport-rail link operators joined forces at Edinburgh Airport on March 17 to launch a joint sales effort aimed at increasing use of Gatwick Express, Heathrow Express, Luton Thameslink and Stansted Express trains by travellers from the Scottish capital.

The Edinburgh-London route is the busiest air route in the country, carrying three million passengers per year on 456 flights per week. The new joint sales initiative will allow airline passengers to buy tickets for onward rail travel from London airports at their departure point.

The rail operators were keen to point out the potential cost and journey time savings for airline passengers switching from taxi to rail: 41 minutes for Gatwick Express, which equates to 18 million minutes per year if all Edinburgh-Heathrow passengers switched to Heathrow Express, and cost savings of more than £100 for passengers travelling by rail from Stansted rather than taxi.
