£550m on ECML enhancements

Just under 4% of the budget for Control Period 5 (April 1 2014-March 31 2019) is being spent by Network Rail on the East Coast Main Line, according to Lord Ahmad.

In a House of Lords Written Reply to Lord Bradshaw (Liberal Democrat) on March 16, Government transport spokesman Ahmad said: “Network Rail is forecasting spending approximately £550 million (in cash prices) on East Coast Main Line enhancements in Control Period 5, which equates to just under 4% of their enhancement spend.”
