RAIL 821’s Stop & Examine, Ryan Shook took issue with the problem of lineside vegetation. He’s also been keeping his ears (as well as his eyes) open… adding his contribution to our ever-lengthening list of annoying announcements.

“Every few minutes at Reading we have: May I have your attention please?

“If you ask a question you should expect a reply and take notice of it. I always say ‘no’, but she continues regardless.” This is a safety announcement. “This will be obvious when we get to it - it’s superfluous.” Please take care when using the escalators located on the station.

“Located adds nothing, and on the station is redundant. She wouldn’t be talking about the ones in John Lewis, would she?” If you have luggage or a bicycle, please use the passenger lifts…

“Most of us have luggage - she means heavy or bulky luggage. And there are no goods lifts. …and ask for assistance if you need it. “How many of us are too shy to ask?” Thank you. “For what?” Thanks Ryan – keep those annoying announcements coming. Email us at rail@ bauermedia.co.uk
