Railcard anomalies

-

I read with interest the articles exposing myths about rail fares in the UK compared with Europe ( RAIL 818).

But it seems fairly meaningless to compare the cost of intermediate distance leisure travel without touching on the subject of railcards, or lack of them for the majority of working age potential passengers within the UK.

If one were to take account of the German Bahncard, it might put a rather different complexion on the somewhat rosy comparison of the cost of leisure travel between our two countries.

The recently launched ‘Two Together’ railcard seems to be a poor relation, when one considers the requirement to be shackled to the same person for every journey to make use of it. Robert Curtis, Normanton
