-

Greater Anglia plans to add more than 100,000 extra seats per week from the start of the new weekday timetable (May 22, after this issue of RAIL went to press), by introducing electric multiple units cascaded from Govia Thameslink Railway.

Twelve Class 317s and ten Class 321s, some of which are already in use, will be used to lengthen peak-time services and to run additional trains.

Routes from London Liverpool Street to Cambridge, Hertford East, Stansted Airport, Southend Victoria, Harwich International, Colchester Town, Chelmsford and Ipswich will have an extra four carriages added to more than 80 services per weekday. Trains between Bishop’s Stortford and Stratford will also be lengthened.

Extra Sunday services will run on the Norwich to Lowestoft and Ipswich to Peterborough and Felixstowe branches.
