Tests may feature a different ‘73/9’

Caledonian Sleeper 73969 may not be the Class 73/9 dispatched to the Velim test track in the Czech Republic, for testing with the Mk 5 stock.

CS intends to send a ‘73/9’ fitted with a Dellner coupling to test with the first rake of Mk 5 coaches being built by CAF in Beasain, Spain.

It had initially planned that 73969, damaged in a shunting accident at Craigentinny at the start of the year, would be used as it is being repaired at Wabtec Rail, Doncaster. However, the level of work required may mean another could be selected.
