Bradford on the rack

There is a mature transport technology available that could connect Leeds Bradford International Airport to the national rail network, and it puzzles me that nobody seems to be considering it.

If similar terrain were encountered in Switzerland I would expect to find the steep sections traversed by rack railway, and to find trains continuing through beyond the rack sections to useful rail hubs.

It would be interesting to know why the rack option has been overlooked here. Or, if it has been considered, why it was rejected. William R Lynch, Kesgrave
