‘802’ at Doncaster for commissioning

-

The first AT300 bi-mode Class 802 has reached Hitachi Rail Europe’s Doncaster Carr depot for commissioning.

Built by Hitachi in Kasado (Japan), it is the first of three pre-series trains delivered to the UK. The five-car train (802001) will be joined by 802002 and nine-car 802101 in the coming weeks.

The remaining 33 Class 802s are being built by Hitachi Rail Italy in Pistoia ( RAIL 828), with the first due in the UK in December. They will enter traffic from next summer, running to Plymouth and Penzance. All 36 must be in the UK by the end of 2018, and all will be in traffic from the second week of March 2019.
