Third DRS Class 37/4 joins Greater Anglia’s ranks

Direct Rail Services 37422 moved to Greater Anglia on hire on June 28.

Currently it is one of only three serviceable Class 37/4s allocated to GA hire duties - the others are 37405/419.

Of the others, DRS owns 37407, which is still to return to traffic following an extensive overhaul that continues at LORAM UK. The locomotive has yet to work for DRS more than two years after it was bought from preservation, and more than 17 years since it last hauled a train.

The operator also owns 37423 Spirit of the Lakes, which is also at Derby for repairs, and which last hauled a train on May 9 before failing.
