First refurbished ‘317/1s’ in traffic with Greater Anglia

-

The first two Greater Anglia Class 317/1s that transferred from Govia Thameslink Railway for refurbishment and repainting have entered traffic.

The four-car electric multiple units left GTR earlier this year following a cascade of Class 387/1s from Thameslink.

Twelve Class 317s moved to Greater Anglia, with 317346/347 the first to be treated.

Their internal refurbishment is the same as for the GA Class 317/5s, and they will remain with the operator until the introduction of Class 720 Aventras in 2019, at which point GA will return them to Angel Trains.

The operator added 317337317348 to its Class 317 fleet, which already included 317501- 317515, 317649-317672, 317722, 317881-317886.

Meanwhile, GA 321311 ran from Doncaster Works to Wolverton on June 26, to be fitted with a new Vossloh Kiepe traction package as part of its Renatus refurbishment.

Eversholt Rail expects to have seven refurbished Class 321/3s available for traffic soon, from a planned fleet of 30.
