HS2 Advance tickets

-

Barry Doe needs to rethink his dislike of Advance tickets ( RAIL 827).

While I agree that Advance tickets shouldn’t be sold after the train has started, many people rely on these cheap tickets.

As a low-waged public sector employee in Manchester, Virgin’s Advance tickets allow me to visit

my family in London without having to spend most of the day stuck on a coach. I am happy to trade flexibility for price.

Barry’s assertion that HS2 shouldn’t have Advance tickets would price taxpayers such as myself off a railway I have paid for. Being unable to use HS2 would leave us on a much-reduced West Coast Main Line service with increased journey times.

Platform signage as to where to join the train would equally speed up station stops, or people could walk inside the train to find their seats, as they do now. Jonathan Martin, Manchester
